Laboratories available in the Chemical Engineering Department
Over time, the methodologies used to impart this education have varied. Yet, the experience has held its
significance in the overall development of a chemical engineer. Working in a lab is the first hands-on
experience that a chemical engineering student gets in his or her academic career. The successful practical
applications carried out by students in laboratories help them become more confident about their knowledge
and skills.
- Heat tr. Lab : Heat Transfer Lab of the dept. provides practical training to the student of various heating and
cooling systems ,parallel and counter flow heat exchange, shell and tube heat exchangers Calculation of
thermal Inductivity, film coefficient, working of evaporator.
- Mass tr. Lab: provides practical training on various mass transfer equipment for covering all the base
aspects of mass transfer phenomenon the lab equipped with experimental setup for doing experiments on
liquid - liquid, solid-liquid , extraction, drying, distillation absorption, teaching, cooling towers,
humidification.
- Process control and instrumentation Lab: Process Control and Instrumentation Lab provide the basic
knowledge of instruments such as temperature, pressure measuring, level and density measuring in this lab
students also become familiar with gas chromatography, mass spectroscopy, controllers such as PID,
temperature control system which are widely used in chemical Industries.
- Fluid Mach. Lab: This lab covers practical aspects, phenomena of fluid flow. It features Bernoulli’s
apparatus, orifices, venturi & Rota meter, Reynolds apparatus, friction losses in pipes and pipe fittings, flow
measurement by notches, apart from these steps in lab various display board and models use understand
pumps, valves and pipe fittings.
- M.O. Lab: Various experimental facilities are available for study of different fluid particle operations including
size reduction techniques, conveying granular material filtration operations. This lab houses, ball mill, jaw
crusher, rotary vacuum filter, Plate and frame filter press (washing and non-washing sedimentation,
screening are available for experiments.
- Project Lab: We are in process to set up a Project lab. This has a key role in promoting practices and hands
on education throughout the careers of chemical engineering students. This lab equipped with pilot plants of
mass transfer and heat transfer.
- C.P.U. Lab: Various experimental facilities available for testing solids and liquids fuels like Coal, Diesel,
Gasoline, Lube oil etc. gasket making, flanges, piping system. Study of various steps related to the
maintenance of gear box, screw conveyors, elevators etc.
- C.R.E. Lab: The Reaction Engineering Laboratory was newly established in 2025 to provide practical
exposure to various chemical reaction processes and reactor operations. In this lab, students study the
performance and design aspects of different types of reactors such as batch reactors, continuous stirred
tank reactors (CSTR), and plug flow reactors (PFR). The laboratory also helps students understand reaction
kinetics, rate constants, conversion, and temperature effects on reactions, which are essential concepts
widely used in chemical industries.
Smart Class And Classrooms available in Department
Smart classrooms have become an essential part of modern education, including in the field of chemical engineering. A smart classroom is a technologically advanced classroom that uses modern technologies to enhance the learning experience. It is designed to provide students with an interactive and engaging learning environment that facilitates better understanding and retention of course material. In a diploma in chemical engineering department, a smart classroom can be particularly beneficial. Chemical engineering is a field that requires a lot of theoretical knowledge as well as practical application. Smart classrooms can provide both of these aspects of learning.
Smart classrooms of Chemical Engineering department provides students with access to online resources such as e-books and multimedia content related to the course. This can help students to gain a deeper understanding of the course material, and also help them to prepare for exams and assignments.
Departmental Library of Chemical Engineering Department
A library is an essential part of any educational institution, including a diploma in chemical engineering department. The library serves as a resource center for students, providing access to a wide range of books and other materials related to the field of chemical engineering. Here are some ways in which a library can benefit students in a diploma in chemical engineering department:
- Access to textbooks and reference materials: The library is a place where students can access textbooks and reference materials related to their courses.
- Research support: The library provides research support to students, including access to online databases and search tools.
- learning: The library provides a quiet and comfortable space for students to study and work on group projects.
- Professional development: The library can also be a source of professional development for students in a diploma in chemical engineering department.
- Access to technology: Finally, the library provides access to a range of technology resources, including computers, printers, and scanners. This can be particularly useful for students who do not have access to these resources at home, and can also help students develop technology skills that will be useful in their future careers.
